ADDERALL

I was talking with some friends a while back and one of them raised a topic about brain enhancing drugs otherwise known as "nootropics". I would like to talk about a nootropic drug called "adderall" which is used to treat ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a brain disorder marked by an ongoing pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development.

•  Inattention means a person wanders off task, lacks persistence, has difficulty sustaining focus, and is disorganized; and these problems are not due to defiance or lack of comprehension. 
• Hyperactivity means a person seems to move about constantly, including situations in which it is not appropriate when it is not appropriate, excessively fidgets, taps, or talks. In adults, it may be extreme restlessness or wearing others out with their activity. 
• Impulsivity means a person makes hasty actions that occur in the moment without first thinking about them and that may have high potential for harm; or a desire for immediate rewards or inability to delay gratification. An impulsive person may be socially intrusive and excessively interrupt others or make important decisions without considering the long-term consequences.

Now back to ADDERALL

Adderall contains a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine are central nervous system stimulants that affect chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control.

Adderall is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Adderall increases the brain chemicals dopamine and norepinephrine, which play essential roles in thinking and attention.

Side effects
In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by amphetamine / dextroamphetamine. In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.

Physical effects

• Bladder pain
• Bloody or cloudy urine
• Difficult, burning, or painful urination
• Fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
• Frequent urge to urinate
• Lower back or side pain
• Anxiety
• Dry mouth
• Lack or loss of strength
• Stomach pain
• Weight loss
• Rise in blood pressure

Psychological effects

• Concentration
• Decreased sense of fatigue
• Mood swings (elated mood followed by mildly depressed mood)
• Increased initiative
• Insomnia or wakefulness
• Self-confidence
• Sociability

For the purpose of simplicity the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the Adderall will not be explained.
